Formed in 1946, CGL initially started trading as a supplier of composite gutters. They became the original UK innovators when they diversified into the rainscreen cladding market in the late 1980`s.
With offices in Glasgow, Basildon and Wloclawek, Poland, CGL has the ability to service the needs of our clients nationwide.
CGL have always put innovation and testing to the forefront of the business and working alongside recognised industry test centres, UL International (UK) Ltd and Exova Warringtonfire, all our systems are fully CWCT tested for air leakage, dynamic pressure, water penetration and impact as well as having European Fire Classification to BS EN 13501-1. This helps to ensure safety and quality throughout the CGL product range.
CGL is also accredited to ISO9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015

Unrivaled manufacturing capability in our 50,000 sq ft factory, teams of highly skilled fabricators, and an enormous bank of experience to draw on means we can do things with rainscreen others can only dream about.
A new “joined-up” approach from design through to installation means we offer a very lean process where everything is fully considered from the outset, saving you time and money. We design it to be efficient to manufacture and we manufacture it to be safe, quick, and simple to install.
Design
A frequently misused and misunderstood term, we like to be clear and transparent about our design role. Here’s what we do: By the time it reaches us, the scheme has typically been designed from a visual standpoint by someone else, usually the end-user or developer’s architect. This sets the expectation for the finished building and it is our job to realise that expectation as closely as possible while recognising any technical or budgetary constraints.
Our design team will do the support structure calcs, develop the panel splits and sizes, assist with material selection and gauge, resolve difficult details around projections in the façade such as windows and porticos, and all while ensuring it is viable from a manufacturing and installation perspective.
Manufacture
CGL has been manufacturing Rainscreen for over 30 years. In that time we have amassed unrivaled technical knowledge and manufacturing capability and capacity. Working in every material imaginable, whether pre or post-coated, we have the combination of high volume manufacturing plant and skilled workforce to fabricate any type of façade. Our capability has recently been supplemented by the acquisition of a laser cutter and 6 metre router. These add to our already impressive list including multiple brake presses and turret punches.
With these extensive resources managed by our industry-leading Preactor™ production management software, we can deliver in large volumes quickly and reliably.
