Shingle Cladding System
CGL’s “Rainscreen” system is a fully drained, ventilated and pressure equalised façade which forms the external aesthetic element of a multi-layer wall. The system’s unique feature is the CS2 support grid which allows ultimate functionality by its 3-axis adjustability, giving perfect alignment of façade panels and joint lines.
Shingles have been around in one form or another for hundreds of years. Soletech still offer traditional copper and zinc shingles, but the range has been extended to aluminium and stainless steel. Unlike our rainscreen systems, shingles do not need a bracket and a rail carrier system. Shingles fix onto a suitable backing wall with stainless steel clips. The clips hold the shingle and then the next shingle overlaps to create a fix seam.
As the shingles are fully supported on the backing wall, they are ideal for thinner gauge metals, which tend to rise and fall at the edges to form overlaps and underlaps. These subtle profile changes add another dimension to how the chosen shingle can reflect and responds to changing light conditions.
