CGL Wallplank System

The Computer Science Department at the University of York was one of the first to benefit from an £80m investment for the expansion of the Heslington East campus. The new building is split in to two wings to include hardware and software laboratories which overlook a lake and courtyard in the picturesque setting. The flora of the campus provided the inspiration for the design of the building which was completed by straight exterior panels and a colour palette to be analogous with the bulrushes and other multi-stemmed plants.

3m long VMZINC QUARTZ-ZINC® and PIGMENTO® vertical interlocking façade panels provided an economical solution for the project that could be installed over winter without the need for silicone bonding. The pre-weathered satin panels diffuse sunlight while each being surrounded by crisp shadow borders; resulting in striking, modern architecture that fits perfectly in to the natural surroundings.
